By now, in Iowa everyone knows that using a microwave oven to cook food is not healthy. It’s a fact that not only does microwaving your food alter the integrity of food by changing its molecular structure but it also releases toxins in to your food from the microwave cooking container. At the very least you get a double whammy from microwave toxicity.
A study done by Dr Hans Hertal found that people that ate microwave foods had a decrease in HDL (good cholesterols), as well as reduced red and white blood cell count. Reducing your red blood cell count would of course appear as anemia. Reduced white cell count will make you more susceptible to infections.
As far as the microwave packaging is concerned, a number of toxins are released from the container.
A notable substance called BPA is “cooked” out of the plastic packaging that microwave food comes in. This BPA (bisphenol A) interrupts normal hormone function and can cause a multitude of problems like infertility, low sex drive, heart disease, mental disorders, allergies, high blood pressure, and weight gain.
So, what is the only safe way to cook with a microwave you are wondering? If you find yourself needing to using a microwave, only heat foods that are surrounded by water. It is a well know phenomenon in the world of physics that water blocks the transmission of microwaves. If water is surrounding your food then it should not be molecularly affected by the microwaves.
Also I am assuming you are using a non-plastic microwave safe container.
Any foods that you boil in water on the stove should be safe from microwave contamination.
Do you boil your corn or beans or other vegetables? Do you like hard boiled eggs? In Iowa most people do. Of course raw food is always best but if you insist on using the microwave, do not just put the corn, beans or what not on a plate and heat them up. Put them in water to protect them.
Never drink the water that has been nuked. This includes the broth of soup if heated. Always cook soup on the stove.
As you may have guessed, I haven’t given up my microwave entirely. It gets used very sparingly. Thankfully I have discovered that there is a safe method of using a microwave and that is with water.
If you are still using a microwave I hope that you will reconsider how you use it.
